Did you know that multi-instrumentalist Kamtin Mohager, better known as The Chain Gang of 1974, coined his moniker from the Ravonettes’ album Chain Gang of Love and the birth year of his favorite artist Ryan Adams (1974)?

Well, now, you do. Please, be sure to keep this useless tidbit handy to either notify Kamtin that you’re completely wet whistle for his hard rocks or to let that hair-flipping vixen next to you know that you’re just as into her music interests as her pantyline.

Though, at first listen, his new record under Modern Art Wayward Fire may mistakenly be chucked into the back row and stowed as a “guilty pleasure”, Kamtin Mohager’s alternative dance music project The Chain Gang of 1974 is terribly infectious as it’s heavily dosed with dance wave hooks, richly layered synthetics, and post punk elements.

For tonight’s posting, Chain Gang transforms the 1983 New Wave hit “Hold Me Now” by the Thompson Twins into an incendiary rock ballad.  It’s a 6 minute long love ride with rich riffs and heart-wrenching piano play that begs you to sing along, go home and fuck somebody.
